Reece Clark

PhD Student in Earth, Marine, Environmental Sciences
at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill

Welcome

My name is Reece Clark, and I am currently a doctoral student at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in the Earth, Marine, and Environmental Sciences department. My research focus is in computational seismology and how we can characterize Earth's internal structure based on the response from seismometers following strong earthquakes. This field is known as Normal Mode theory, and it is pretty cool!

Anyways, I am excited to continue pursuing my current research direction, and (hopefully!) I will be able to foster a connection between my astrophysics and geology backgrounds in the future to study planetary earthquakes and starquakes.

Outside of my appointment, I also like to be involved in my community and encourage interdisciplinary connections, and outside of the university, I like to run, bake, and craft!

Current Projects

  • • Creating a robust radio astronomy pipeline for several types of observations
  • • Detecting signals, specifically Earth's normal modes, with a Bayesian inference architecture
